Our History

In October 1992, H.L. Goolsby purchased the Leake County ambulance service and contract. There was very little existing equipment, only three ambulances and limited staffing capabilities, with only one paramedic employed. .He saw this purchase as an opportunity to help his friends, neighbors and community by improving the delivery of emergency medical services to his hometown.

H.L. Goolsby approached the development of the ambulance service with a “hands on” attitude, serving a dual role as both administrator and field staff. He believed early on in several basic principles such as hiring courteous, professional staff who are genuinely devoted to providing excellent care to the patients they are charged with treating, along with insuring state of the art equipment so that patients could received the best pre-hospital care possible.

In 2000, H.L. Goolsby's daughter, Leigh Ann Goolsby Magee joined the company and presently serves in the role of Operations Manager.

In 2008, following the collapse of the largest EMS agency in the State of Mississippi, Carthage Ambulance Photo of a fleet of Life Care Ambulances at nightService, Inc./dba LifeCare EMS began operation in Winston, Newton & Scott Counties. In 2012, Noxubee and Kemper Counties joined the LifeCare family.
